Social Closure

From , former About.com Guide

Definition: Social closure is a concept that was first introduced by Max Weber and refers to the practice of preserving privilege by restricting other people’s access to resources and rewards. It can take many forms, from residential segregation to marriage rules that forbid unions with anyone from outside the privileged group to keeping women out of “old boys’ networks.”
