Definition: The mode is a statistical measure of the average score in a distribution. It is simply the most common score, or the score that appears the highest number of times in a distribution.
Examples:
If 10 families have 0, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, and 6 children, respectively, the mode is 2 since more families have 2 children than any other number. Some distributions do not have a mode at all while others have more than one mode.
