A new study published in the American Sociological Review
finds that conservatives' trust in science has declined sharply since 1974, when conservatives had the highest trust in science. Confidence in scientists has declined the most among educated conservatives, implying that the discontent with science is not attributed to the uneducated, but instead to a rising distrust among the educated. The study also found that Americans with moderate political views have long been the most distrustful of scientists, however conservatives are now likely to surpass them. Read more
